The Dell Latitude 5400 is part of the Latitude 5000 series, which focuses on business use and jobs. In terms of fast charging, reliability, and warranty, it is slightly different from consumer notebooks.
When we look at Dell, we generally see the Inspiron consumer range, the Vostro Small Business range, and if we are lucky, the XPS uber-sexy. The Dell Latitude 5400 is completely different.
The Latitude 5400 is not the most beloved PC, measuring 20.85 mm and weighing 3.26 pounds. What it does is do the work. It has a 14-inch Full HD display, Whiskey Lake vPro processors, a solid keyboard, and more.
In addition, it supports Dell ExpressCharge. If you get it at 90 watts, you can charge it up to 80% in an hour. This machine is a working horse.
Dell Latitude 5400 Design
Latitude 5400 is khaki pants and a commercial laptop shirt. Its offensive appearance does not attract attention in the office environment, as it is not admired by colleagues.
Latitude still uses a black plastic chassis with the Dell chrome logo engraved on the middle of the lid.
On the deck, most of the same plastic is used, which looks strong, but is not far from excellent quality. The heart requires tools to keep the edges of the Latitude 5400 thin, although the top edge is relatively thick (to accommodate the IR camera). There’s a small handle on the top frame that slides over to cover the webcam. This is a false but effective solution.

The 14-inch, 1080p touchscreen laptop is not dim and colorful.
To navigate web pages or use the on-screen keyboard to enter a web address, you have no problem touching the Latitude 5400 touch screen. The Latitude 5400 does not have a stylus, so touch screen performance is limited.

According to the test colorimeter, the Latitude 5400 display covers only 62.1% of the sRGB color gamut, which is much dimmer than the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (109%), TravelMate P6 P614 (113%), and High Average displays. -Class laptop (124). The Latitude 5400 display was only 228 nits.
The speakers are powerful enough to be used in an average room. If you listen to indie or classical music, no problem, but the Latitude 5400 does not handle rock and techno music well.
Keyboard, touch screen
An interesting backlit keyboard is one of the advantages of the Latitude 5400. The keyboard is easy to type.
The Latitude 5400 touchscreen responds to finger swipe and fast scrolling, including zooming in and out with two fingers.
This laptop has no problem loading 15 tabs of Google Chrome. This really strong performance has been solidified in benchmark tests.
The Latitude 5400, with a score of 15,307 in the Geekbench 4 overall performance test, is about as good as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (15,649, Core i5, 8265U) and the average of an expensive laptop (15,726).
The Latitude 5400 took 18 minutes and 13 seconds to convert 4K video to 1080p resolution, less than the TravelMate P6 (19 minutes 52 seconds) and the average high-end laptop (22 minutes 10 seconds).
The 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Class 35 SSD at Latitude 5400 showed its speed by copying 4.97 GB of the media file in 12 seconds at 424.1 MB / s.
Latitude 5400 with integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics card is not suitable for playing games in high graphics settings or running heavy animation programs. In the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark test, the Latitude 5400 reached 84,709, well ahead of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (81,350) but much lower than the TravelMate P6 (98,034) and the average high-end laptop (93,525) .
With a lifespan of 13 hours and 19 minutes in the Laptop Mag battery test (including continuous Wi-Fi browsing at 150 nits), the Latitude 5400 has a longer battery life than the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (9:30 minutes), TravelMate P6 (7:34), and Medium (8:25).
Do not worry about the heavy load on the Latitude 5400. This laptop stays cool even at maximum pressure. After playing the 1580p 15-minute video, the Latitude 5400 touchscreen heats up to 26 degrees Celsius, while the center of the keyboard (30 degrees Celsius) and the bottom panel (35 degrees Celsius) remain on the comfort threshold.
