Sometimes what you want is a good, low-cost laptop that has a screen that is the right size for schoolwork, image, and video editing, or just surfing the web. The Asus VivoBook E403SA examines all of these boxes and is also one of the least expensive systems with a full HD display, so if you need extra workspace on a laptop to replace a low-cost desktop, this is a good choice.
The Asus VivoBook E403SA door has a sleek, sleek aluminum lid that looks like it belongs to a notebook, which costs twice as much.
The laptop keyboard deck may seem to be made of the same material, but it is made of a seemingly metal plastic, which works well to support my wrist.
The two small tabs protruding from the back of the hinge may seem strange, but they can scratch the door against smooth surfaces.
Ports and webcam
Asus has given the VivoBook 403SA a lot of ports for a low-cost car, which is rare at this price point. On the left side of the notebook, you can see the HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB Type-C ports along with the headphone jack.
There is a security lock slot, a USB 2.0 port, and an SD memory reader on the right side of the laptop.
The VivoBook USB Type-C port supports both data transfer and charging – provided you purchase a Type-C charger – but does not turn off the video, leaving this function to a dedicated HDMI port. None of the competitors we mentioned offer a Type-C port at all.
The VivoBook E403SA’s 0.3-megapixel webcam took noisy selfies that seemed to be through the Pointillist filter.

The VivoBook E403SA has a 201 nits average display (brightness), which is close to the Asus F555L (198 nits), Inspiron 14 3000 (188 nits), and Satellite Radius 14 (182 nits).
The Ideapad 300S notebook (225 nits) and the thin and light-medium (245 nits) have more shine. The VivoBook screen provides a good viewing angle, as the color was only slightly washed away.
Keyboard and Touch screen
The VivoBook E403SA keyboard provides the ideal typing experience, without the annoying flexibility we typically find in low-cost laptops. The keys provide a bit of 1.4 mm of travel (1.5 to 2 mm is normal) and can be sharper, but overall typing is easy.

Battery life is impressive, as the VivoBook E403SA lasted 10 hours and 26 minutes in our root test.
This is good enough that you can watch a movie on an intercity flight and there is still a lot of water left after that.
The class leader is the Acer Aspire Cloudbook (13:59), and the Dell Insprion 15 (3558) (8:44) is significantly behind the VivoBook E403SA.
The other desktop switches we tested barely lasted 5 hours, so the VivoBook E403SA ultimately has exceptional power.

It has battery life, good build and design class, convenient storage space, and a full HD screen that is easy to see.
The larger Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series still retains our Editors’ Choice Award for all the real work due to its much better performance, more memory, touchscreen, and wider keyboard with a numeric keypad for real-time tasks.
That said, if portability is more important to you than power, keep the VivoBook on your shortlist.
The VivoBook E403SA also led to battery life, with its 57 watt-hour battery test lasting 9 hours and 47 minutes.
This is a significant ratio compared to comparable systems – the closest model was the Dell Inspiron 14 3000 with 6:38, the Toshiba Satellite Radius 14 with 6:31 and the Ideapad 300S with 6:25 – a significant difference in visible battery life Is completely at the foot of the new Intel Braswell Quad-Core processor.
