The HP Officejet 4500 wireless is a multi-purpose inkjet printer aimed at small businesses. It can print black-and-white documents and color pages quickly in draft quality settings, and the high-load 20-page document power supply is an advantage for fast scanning or copying multi-page documents.
If the overall print quality is not your most important business need, the Officejet 4500 performs well in other areas.

HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Review and Specs
Officejet All in HP is designed to bridge the gap between home and work at a reasonable price.
It is also more economical in the long run. At 2.9p per color screen, it’s one of the cheapest, with HP costing 2p for mono printing – about a penny less than the Pixma.
HP is compatible with Windows 7 and offers 802.11g Wi-Fi connectivity, with a 20-sheet ADF at the top and a 100-page input tray at the base.
But there are obvious downsides to this price: The two-line LCD panel contains a host of nested menus and is timid to move around, and there is no proper output tray to prevent printing from falling on the table.
Also, nothing compares to Ethernet connection, memory card reader, automatic duplex, and 2.5-inch color screen.

The two-cartridge, black and three-color printing engine is also quite intermediate.
The print quality of the documents was good enough to use at work, but along with the Canon five-color quality, the text was not sharp.
For images, the distance was even greater using images that lack contrast and are a good inkjet punch.
HP used USB to destroy mono pages with 5.7ppm and color printing with disappointing 2.4ppm. When we printed similar documents on Officejet’s 802.11g wireless connection, it was a little slower and out of the class by Canon, which was three times faster in color tests.
The 1 second scanner took 39 seconds for a 6 4 4-inch photo at 600 dpi and copied mono documents at 4ppm via a USB connection. Scan quality is one of the areas where HP competes well, with clear and clean results, so if you scan a lot, at least one area is attractive.
But in most other areas the Officejet 4500 is of the quality needed to receive a short award. Thanks to its wide range of features, flawless image quality and decent speed, we still spend our money on the Canon Pixma MX870
HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Setup and speed
Setting 4500 in the standard fare network. Replace the 8.5-by-17.1-by-15.8-inch (HWD) printer, remove the packaging, and connect the cables. Then load the paper, tap on the two ink cartridges with the black ink, and run the auto-launch program from the disc.
According to HP, it also comes with a complete suite of drivers and software for Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 32-, 64-bit, and XP, as well as a full suite of drivers and software for Mac OS X 10.4. x to 10.6.
Additionally, you can download a range of drivers and software for both 32-bit and 64-bit server versions in 2003 and 2008, and a full range of drivers and software for Linux from the HP website.
As you might expect from the 4500 price and paper capacity, speed is not a strength. However, it is slightly faster than the MX340.
4500 works much better than other inkjets for photos. Its average for every 4 in 6 is 1:15, and its speed is slightly faster than the MX340 at 1:35 and much faster than the NX515 at 2:05. For the 8 in 10, the 4500 takes an average of 3 minutes, while for the MX340 it is 3:27, and for the NX515 4:41.
HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Output quality
The output quality of the 4500 is best described for its intended use. The graphics are the same for the inkjet and the image quality is the same at the shooting distance. Touch text is too low but suitable for most commercial uses.
Graphic quality with the printer’s default settings, despite some obvious problems such as banding, was good for indoor use. In high-quality mode, most of the problems disappeared and the colors were completely vivid. The only serious problem the tendency to lose thin lines on a black background, but this is a common problem for printers.

Note that if you are using full-screen graphics, you may need to use heavy paper. In my tests, the ink tended to add a loop to the plain paper we use for testing.
Photo printer output is eligible as true photo quality, but very low in range.
Another noteworthy item is the HP Standard One Year Warranty.
You have a problem with the printer, HP will send the replacement with the return label, while HP will charge the shipping cost in both directions.
Also, if you’re considering the Officejet 4500, be sure to take a look at the MX340, with much emphasis on photo printing features as well as the NX515, with much better speed.
The Officejet 4500 is the best choice for your needs, if you are more interested in office features than home use but do not want to spend extra on the NX515.
PROS
- Network connector.
- Prints, scans, and faxes, over a network.
- Standalone fax and copier.
- Automatic document feeder.
CONS
- Relatively slow.
- Although text is suitable for most business use, it’s sub-par for an inkjet.
