You’ve probably come across an HP printer at some point in your life. About one-fifth of the entire printer market is owned by HP, and this is no coincidence. People want easy printers, and that’s what HP has to offer.
The ENVY 5055 is the latest device in their home inkjet printers, and if you’ve ever used an HP printer, you have a good idea of what to expect.
Inkjet printers are ideal for rich graphics and crisp text. By spraying droplets of ink onto the paper, the inkjet can be used to print on a wider range of paper sizes. Inkjets, from commercial envelopes to scrapbooks, have been in use for decades. And with the 5055, you can expect more.
But because you are dealing with higher quality prints, inkjet printers like the ENVY 5055 have slower printing speeds. This makes them more suitable for people who need light printing, compared to someone who shares office space with dozens of others. If used in an environment like this, the 5055 generates traffic to the printer because the slow print speed causes one task to reach another. It is clear that choosing the right printer for the right environment is very important.
Like many home printers, the HP ENVY 5055 is built with relatively low average power in mind. Its recommended monthly volume is about 400 sheets or a little over ten pages per day. This power is partly reflected in the low-profile 5055 structure. Clearly built to fit neatly on a workbench without taking up much space.
It is worth noting that the 5055 uses more of a standard horizontal paper tray than a high-load design. As a result, the paper is pulled with rubber rollers through the 5055.
In contrast, high-load printers use gravity to help feed documents and are better for all types of media that cannot be bent. But top loaders also consume space, which is why you don’t see this feature in more compact printers like the 5055.
Making the ENVY 5055 is somewhat professional, almost universal. It looks almost like an HP home printer of this type. Fortunately, its performance is nothing but general.
ENVY 5055 supports a maximum print resolution of 1200 12 1200 for monochrome or 4800 12 1200dpi for color. Together, these resolutions provide clear text and clear photo coloring for all your prints.
The touch screen is 2.2 inches but provides all the necessary access. The monochrome screen is easy to read and use, although you can see that it responds somewhat slowly between strokes. Here you will find that HP has 258 MB of standard memory, which is useful for loading large lubricants in the printer. And on the back of the 5055, you will find a USB 2.0 slot that unfortunately cannot be used for USB printing.
Photo printers like the Envy 5055 are more likely to print large photos to print text faster. And for that, the 5055 is quite successful. This photo offers a quality that rivals or goes beyond what you get from ordering online. Another important feature to consider is automatic duplication. Duplex allows you to print on both sides of the screen, which saves you time, effort, and money.
Speed is not usually something you should worry about too much for a home printer, but it can be a problem when printing large prints or multiple people using the same printer. Ppm measures the speed of your printer on paper. The ENVY 5055 has a print speed of 10ppm for black and white pages, which is average for color printers.
7ppm for color printing is just behind and a little faster than a few competitors.
By looking at the copier, you will see 8ppm for monochrome and 4ppm for color. This is not exactly fast, but you will find that slower speeds contribute to the quality of your copies. Unfortunately, the maximum copy resolution is somewhat low, but the ID card copy feature includes a pleasant comfort.
The ENVY 5055 uses plain A4 paper, with a maximum sheet size of 8.5 by 11.7 inches. It is suitable for all types of envelopes, photo paper, plain paper, and smaller fixed stationery. But you should pay attention to the size of at least 3 5 5 inches needed for power through the printer. And in any size you take, you can print beautiful borderless photos.
In terms of quality, inkjets have a similar function. If you have used an inkjet printer before, no surprises await you. Even moving to the HP 6255, which is a little more expensive, does not affect your print quality as much as the set you have. To be able to go beyond the quality of home inkjet printers, you need to add some zero to your hill.
When connected to just one device, Wi-Fi may just be a little more comfortable for you. But when trying to share a printer between multiple devices, a wireless connection can be essential. Just because you have a good Wi-Fi printer, it only takes a few seconds for someone to get on the 5055.
The fast startup speed is ideal for small businesses and homes. In addition, the 5055 is ready for Bluetooth connectivity thanks to the placement of a second wireless antenna in the ENVY.
But there are some connection options that you cannot find. You cannot connect an Ethernet cable or print USB. In fact, you cannot use any form of digital memory card. Access to the 5055 must be via a wireless gateway. For general users, this should not be a problem. Especially considering the fact that ENVY 5055 has native support for Apple Air Print, Mopria printing service, of course, HP ePrint.
Ease of use
The HP ENVY 5055 takes just over 5 minutes to set up. After years of modifying the installation process, HP has made it much harder than pressing a few buttons. And it only gets easier when you have everything set up. From there, you can install the HP Smart App to help you manage your printer.
This is an optional app that can help you take care of ink levels, print photos from your social media accounts, and otherwise make using the 5055 easier. In many cases, using a printer program is a bit silly, but this one can really help you get more versatility out of the 5055.
Ink and toner
Different printers use different types of ink cartridges. And these cartridges often have very different colors or different ways to create these colors. The 5055 uses some standard inkjet cartridges, including 1 black and 1 color cartridge. Color cartridges use a simple design consisting of turquoise, magenta, yellow.
The 5055 comes with a pair of ink cartridges that include a black and one-color cartridge. Unfortunately, most cartridges that are pre-installed on most printers are too small. Those on the ENVY 5055 are suitable for about 100 prints before needing replacement. The good news is that if you are a big printer, the ENVY 5055 can be equipped with high-capacity cartridges.
Some consumers are significantly disappointed with the print speed of ENVY 5055. It may feel like they have only slightly improved in the last 20 years, and that is why they have not done so. Rapidly increasing the speed of color printing is not easy or cheap.
Unless you want to pay high premiums, slower speeds are the price you pay for high image quality without having to take out a third mortgage.
ENVY 5055 with high energy efficiency standards, has a very low power consumption below 1 watt during sleep. It only increases to 14 watts during operation.
In addition, the 5055 remains silent during operation, up to a maximum of 51 dB at maximum. This is about average for an HP home printer, so you know what to expect if you’ve used it before. The minimum and maximum working temperatures of 5055 are 41-104 degrees Fahrenheit, which is also almost average. ENVY 5055 also includes a 1 year HP standard warranty.
People who print normally will love the ENVY 5055. And if you print enough to justify the HP Instant Ink program, which is about 50 pages a month, you’ll love the ENVY 5055, too. The ENVY 5055 is very cheap considering the hardware you receive, but HP hopes to get that money back in ink. Ink replacement costs for the 5055 can be very high unless you print infrequently, or can use your ink-saving programs at better prices.
ENVY 5055 is not fully loaded, it is more like a device that tries to provide all the basics in the right size. You will not find an automatic document feeder for setting and forgetting faxes. You cannot connect with an Ethernet cable, print via USB, or use SD cards.
The basic features available are very convenient and easy to use. But if you are looking for more basics, you may want to consider the OfficeJet 5225 for a larger device.
The ENVY 5055 is very easy to use due to its touch screen design. This device is made in a wide variety, from its connection options to the optional use of high-performance cartridges.
It even has features that were once reserved for high-end devices, such as duplex printing. This makes a home printer generally comprehensive and an easy choice for people who do not have a specific demand for their device. Versatile, but not too much. It has quality but it is not expensive
