Asus ZX53VW Gaming Laptop Review

Sometimes getting a gaming laptop with good performance at a great price is never easy, but the ASUS ZX53VW and a few other devices come with impressive and affordable features.

This system is powerful enough that with a full HD display and a separate NVidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, it can provide a smooth gaming experience in all but the highest settings, and can not handle every day and media tasks while playing.

Display

The standard 1080p video display is on par with most competitors. Although the 15.6-inch screen does not make you feel like you are in a movie theater, it is too much for most games and other on-the-go use.

While more expensive laptops are starting to offer 4k, for most uses, the internal resolution should be sufficient.

1080p resolution is also much more battery than 4k. Most 4k laptops are also not capable of delivering 4k resolution seamlessly during gameplay, and can only use internal resolution when using lighter applications such as playing video files and viewing high-pixel photos.

This makes the screen limit to 1080p seem a good compromise by Asus.

Although this screen may not have a great experience, the matte anti-glare coating has been upgraded in some similarly priced competitions.

The LED backlight is bright enough that it can be used in all common situations, including outdoor use when adjusting full brightness. Backlighting seems to be present even in all lighting settings and no hotspots are known.

The good thing about this mid-size display is that it will also have more battery life than larger diagonal screens, allowing you to slightly increase your usage time compared to larger screens.

Asus did a good job of minimizing the screen size of the laptop with very little wasted space.

The ZX53VW is small enough to fit in most laptop keyboard bags and backpacks you already have, with plenty of accessory space.

While a larger screen can sometimes be a good luxury, anything bigger gets out of hand quickly and feels like a good compromise.

Design and Appearance

Asus ZX53VW-AH58 15.6 has a great first class that gives it a stunning look. Its metal chassis is slim and inspired by the hidden lines of the F-22, which modifies the look of the entire laptop, making it look aggressive. Some say it mimics the Asus ’Republic of Gamers (ROG) laptop.

Black and red really determine the color of the laptop and make it look very professional.

The metal chassis is 10 inches wide and 15.1 inches high. The laptop weighs about 5.5 pounds and can be easily carried from one place to another.

The 15.6-inch monitor screen has a matte finish that looks great and also offers a very good viewing angle even in direct sunlight. Overall, the laptop is great and does not look cheap.

Hardware

Asus ZX53VW 15.6 has some amazing hardware specifications. This laptop has an Nvidia 960M graphics card that is combined with a 4 GB DDR4 video memory.

Even though the graphics card is not the best that Nvidia has offered in recent years, it still performs well.

It works with 1753 MHz memory bandwidth and supports 1440p games at 60 frames per second without any problems.

Even if the GPU supports 4K gaming, you can not expect better performance than the Nvidia GTX 1080 or AMD 560.

This laptop has 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, which enables it to do all important tasks without any problems. Compared to other competitors in the segment, we experienced a relatively faster load time and boot time on the laptop.

The graphics and performance in the settings above 1440p were absolutely brilliant and without a doubt. However, in the super settings, you can now notice a few stutters, but they are acceptable at this price.

Running the game at 60FPS is not a problem for this laptop. You can easily reach an average of 50 to 85 frames per second in each game you play.

So if you are looking for Full HD plus games, this laptop will surely help you to be satisfied in the coming months.

Expert review

This laptop was excellent in terms of value in performance. Although not as powerful as expensive cars, it works very well compared to similarly priced cars.

The power of processors and GPUs competed with a higher price and were sufficient for current market games.

The unique design of the lid helps to reduce the overall dimensions, although the downside was that the USB, HDMI and other devices had to be sideways, which is difficult in some situations.

Focusing on the game may overwhelm some aspects of the laptop for other general computing tasks.

The higher GPU required for gaming also means that battery life is poor compared to low-power machines for basic tasks such as browsing, video playback, and other basic computing.

For these uses, a less powerful CPU and GPU would be an acceptable business to extend battery life.

But overall, the ZX53VW is designed for low-end gaming. Well done for what it is designed for. While having more power, a bigger screen and longer battery life are good, this package is great for what you get.

Every design is a series of compromises, and overall we think Asus has made good choices in this design.
